FAQs

How To Clean A Tefal Frying Pan

If you’re wondering how to clean a Tefal frying pan correctly, you’ve come to the right place. Tefal has helped us write a short but detailed guide on how to care for your new non-stick cookware:

Let your Tefal frying pan cool before you clean – and never plunge your cookware into cold water as “extreme temperature changes” can cause warping, resulting in an uneven base. The brand does not recommend soaking "the outside of your pans for an extended period” to save the aluminium fixes and rivets.

If you’re prone to burning food and you’re worried about your pan's condition, Tefal recommends filling it with “warm water and washing up liquid and leave to soak for about an hour”. After this, wash as you would normally with a “non-abrasive sponge” and suitable detergent.

Generally, after cooking and cooling, the inner and outer coatings of your non-stick Tefal frying pan should be washed with “hot water, liquid detergent and a sponge”. Remember to rinse your pan and dry it, too. Avoid any metal scouring pads as this will remove the trusty coating.

Are Tefal Frying Pans Dishwasher Safe?

Using your beloved dishwasher can save a lot of time and energy, becoming crucial for those of us with a busy lifestyle. In the modern age of convenience, having one less chore to do is a godsend. But, can Tefal frying pans go in the dishwasher? And if so, are there any things to remember?

Tefal says not all their cookware is dishwasher safe – and to check the labels on the packaging.

However, if the best Tefal frying pan for your kitchen is dishwasher-friendly, the brand still recommends handwashing to preserve the non-stick and to prevent any warping. As for detergents, Tefal recommends pure cleaners, avoiding the combination tablets “as these can be very corrosive”.

Why does Tefal strongly recommend handwashing? If your beloved frying or griddle pan is placed in the dishwasher, the fixings “may become dulled” – and their guarantees don’t cover this preventable wear. Luckily, the performance of your chosen pan “will not be affected”.

Can Tefal Frying Pans Go In The Oven?

Pans with the ability to be popped in a reliable oven have revolutionised cookware as we know it. Here, there is no need to decanter any warming casserole into an oven-proof pot. Utilising fewer pieces of cookware means less time at the sink washing up, too, and more time putting your feet up.

Are Tefal frying pans oven-safe? We’ve spoken to the manufacturer to get some answers:

Tefal cookware is oven-safe up to 482°F/250°C/Gas Mark 9 if “the handles are made of stainless steel without any Bakelite or silicone or wrap.” Similarly, Tefal’s tempered glass lids can withstand up to 350°F/175°C/Gas Mark 4, as long as you remove the lid when planning to exceed this temperature.

Plus, non-stick cookware crafted with stainless steel handles (providing they don’t have silicone or Bakelite inserts) can be “put under the grill but must be at a minimum distance of 5cm from the grill heaters.” Above all, always wear oven gloves when moving your cookware to and from the oven.

To combat any confusion, Tefal has developed the (aptly named) Ingenio range, complete with space-saving stack-ability and detachable handles for the oven, perfect for winter warmers. Another oven-friendly cookware we recommend is a pizza pan for the crispest crust of your life.

Are Tefal Frying Pans Suitable For Induction Hobs?

Finding induction-friendly pans is difficult, as the bottom of the pan requires a conductive metal for it to work. Not all of Tefal’s extensive, innovative range is suitable for an induction hob. No fear, we’ve made sure to include each of our pick’s hob compatibility in the specifications tab for peace of mind.

Do tefal frying pans work on induction hobs, we hear you ask… Tefal’s advice is as follows:

When determining your pans' eligibility for an induction hob, check the packaging or where you bought it. After all, you don’t want to invest in a new cookware set and find out that they’re no good.

When using your new, induction-friendly Tefal frying pan, ensure the base is dry, otherwise “the pan may stick to the hob.” An induction hob may mark or scratch your pan, which is expected. However, to prevent any further marks, never “drag pans across the surface – always lift the pan/pot off.”

To guarantee the performance of your induction-friendly cookware, Tefal recommends setting the hob at a “mid-range temperature” to pre-heat and to rely on the ThermoSpot to understand when your pan is good to go. When food is added, “reduce the heat to maintain the temperature” which will "prevent overheating the pan” which can cause warping and lasting damage.

If you’re looking for pans for a gas hob, we have an extensive guide on that, also.
